A large, early 19th century Irish verge watch, in silver pair cases.

MOVEMENT : Gilt fusee movement, with verge escapement, engraved and pierced balance cock and plate, four round baluster pillars, and large silver regulator disk. The balance cock is nicely engraved with a mask to the neck.

Running well, and in good condition, with just a few scratches around the pillar tops.

Signed “Robt. Joyce, Dublin” and numbered (1108).

DIAL : A fine white enamel dial, in excellent condition with just some very light scratches. Gilt brass hands.

INNER CASE : Silver, with hallmarks for London, 1804, maker’s mark WB and serial number matching the movement.

In good condition, with just some light bruises to the silver. The hinge is fine and the bezel snaps shut correctly. The high dome bull’s eye crystal is good, though with one small chip right on the bezel at 1. The bow and stem are fine, though the stem has been reattached.

OUTER CASE : Silver pair case with hallmarks matching the inner.

In good condition. The hinge and catch are complete and the case snaps shut. Wear to the catch button. A few very light bruises.
