Early 19thc half hunter pair cases, named dial

Unusual half hunter style pair cased verge, with good silver cases, with a fine named dial, all in very good overall condition.

MOVEMENT : Signed (John Deakin) and dated (1810) gilt brass verge movement, with four round pillars. Nicely engraved balance cock showing a lion above the neck. Bosley type regulator.

The movement is in good condition and is running well.

DIAL : A fine white enamel half hunter dial, with inner chapter ring, and outwr replaced with the letters IOHN, DEAKIN. with a sun motif at 12 and a moon at 6.

In excellent condition, with just a few light scratches and a small flake right on the edge at 6.

A fine half hunter style hour hand and plain minute hand.

INNER CASE : Silver, hallmarked for London, 1809/10, maker’s mark IG (rubbed).

In very good condition throughout. The hinge is fine and the bezel snaps shut. Just a little wear to the bow. The small crystal is fine, and appears to be original.

OUTER CASE : A very heavy gauge silver with matching hallmarks to the inner.

Again in very good condition. The catch, catch button and hinge are fine and the case snaps shut securely.

The signature on the dial and movement could be for the maker or the owner. There were several English makers by the name of John Deakin (also Deaken or Deacon) around this period.
