A late 18th century verge watch, in a wonderful gold and enamel case.

MOVEMENT : Gilded verge escapement, with engraved and pierced balance cock. Four round pillars, silver regulator disk and blued screws.

Signed (Thos. Gray, Sackville Street) and numbered (1841).

The movement is in good condition, with just a few light scratches. It is running well.

DIAL : The very stylish, and unusual white enamel dial is in excellent condition, with just a few very light scratches. No repairs or hairlines.

Fine gold matching hands.

INNER CASE : 22ct gold, hallmarked for London, maker’s mark TM, though no year mark. Light blue and white enamel borders to back and bezel, and a blue guilloche panel to the centre of the back.

In very good condition. No wear or damage to the gold. The hinge is fine and the bezel snaps shut correctly. The enamel is almost perfect, with just a small loss to the border at the stem. Some light scratches to the blue panel, but no chips, cracks or repairs.

The high dome crystal is also fine.

OUTER CASE : A gilt outer case, with exhibition glazed back.

In good condition with the gilding still intact. The hinge is fine and the bezel snaps shut. The crystal is fine.
