Silver cased verge by Lloyd, Hay on Wye

MOVEMENT : Gilded movement with verge escapement, the balance cock finely engraved and pierced, with a mask to the neck. Boseley type regulator. Blued steel screws and four round pillars.

A stop lever on the side of the movement at 4 slides to stop or restart the movement.

Signed (Wm. A. Lloyd, Hay), dated (1839) and numbered (22036).

The movement is in very good condition and is running well.

DIAL : A cream enamel dial, with a seconds subsidiary.

In good condition, with just one small chip on the edge at 12 and very faint hairline from the edge at 4 towards the centre.

Gilt hour and minute hands, with blued steel seconds.

CASE : Silver, with hallmarks for Birmingham, 1839, and maker’s mark JW.
Engine turning to the back and a milled band.

Very good condition throughout, with hardly any wear to the silver. The hinges are fine and the bezel and back cover snap shut correctly.
The crystal is in good condition. The substantial bow and stem are fine.
