Sold

A silver pair cased verge with polychrome dial showing a hunting scene.

MOVEMENT : Gilt verge movement, with engraved and pierced balance cock. Four square pillars, fine blued screws and silver regulator disk.

Signed “Jas. Rampart, London” and numbered “938”.

Working, and in good condition, with just the top missing from one pillar.

DIAL : Polychrome enamel dial, showing a hunting scene. Nicely painted, with a rider, hounds and deer, with a house and lake in the background.
The dial is in reasonable condition, with some light hairlines radiating from the centre, and a chip on the edge at 9.

Later brass hands.

INNER CASE : Silver, with rubbed London hallmarks for 1770, maker’s mark WD.
In reasonable condition though the stem has been replaced. The hinge is good and the bezel snaps shut. The high dome crystal is fine.

OUTER CASE : Silver pair case, with rubbed hallmarks, possibly matching the inner.
Again in reasonable condition, with just a couple of small dents to the bezel. The catch button, catch and hinge are intact and the case snaps shut, though the button is dented and the spring replaced (soldered rather than riveted to the case).
