Sold

A fine London “doctor’s dial” verge, with central seconds, and stop/start lever, in very good condition.

MOVEMENT : Gilt verge movement, with engraved and pierced balance cock, and engraved plates. Unusual layout of the balance cock and plates. Blued screws and silvered regulator disk. Fully signed and numbered (15072).

The movement is in excellent condition throughout and running well.
The small stop lever, on the side of the case at 20, correctly stops and restarts the movement.

DIAL : Excellent signed white enamel ‘doctors’ dial, with separate hours and centre seconds chapters. In very good condition with just a few very minor scratches, and a very light, short hairline from the edge at 44.

INNER CASE : Gilt, with maker’s mark IN. In good condition with just a little damage to the inner rim at 40 (not visible with the bezel closed) and a little wear to the gilding on the stem and bow.

The hinge is fine and the bezel closes though doesn’t snap shut. The high dome bull’s eye crystal is fine.

OUTER CASE : Gilt, with matching maker’s mark to the inner. The hinge, catch button and catch are fine, and the bezel snaps shut.
There are a couple of short cracks to the bezel near the stem, but the bezel is still strong.

George Goodman is listed in London between 1771 and 1780.
