Verge escapement

Sold

A silver pair cased verge, with an unusual glazed balance bridge.

MOVEMENT : Gilded verge escapement, with unusual glazed balance bridge, showing the regulator scale and name through the glass. Four square pillars.

Signed Robert Ainsworth.

The movement is reasonable condition, though there is a tooth missing from the fusee wheel. However the movement winds and is running well.

DIAL : White enamel dial.

In average condition, with one light hairline from the centre and some chips around the edge.

18th century steel beetle and poker hands. The minute has lost the tip.

INNER CASE : Silver, with marks rubbed.

Average condition. The bow and stem are replacements, and there is some compression around the band.
There is one hinge sleeve missing from the hinge, but the bezel snaps shut correctly.

The high dome bull’s eye crystal is in good condition.

OUTER CASE : Silver pair case , again with no marks and in average condition.

There are a number of small bruises to the upper part of the back, a split to the bezel at the hinge and a further nick on the rim of the bezel.
The hinge, catch button and catch are fine and the case snaps shut nicely.
