A good quality verge watch, in a particularly nice heavy silver case
MOVEMENT : Signed and numbered (6183). Verge escapement, with diamond endstone and polished steel balance wheel.
Good condition throughout, and running well, though the stop/start lever, activated by a slide on the dial at 4, is broken, so this feature is not working.
DIAL : Silver dial, with subsidiary seconds. Applied gold numerals, gold hands and blued steel seconds hand.
A few areas of light tarnish but no scratches and in very nice condition.
CASE : A substantial silver case. Hallmarks for London, 1814, maker IR. Milled band, and rims, ribbed crown and bow, and engine turned back with central cartouche (empty).
In very good condition throughout. The hinges are fine and both bezel and back snap shut nicely. The crystal is fine.
Daniel Pidding Bird is listed in Bristol , married in 1793 and free of the Clockmakers Company in 1818.
