Silver pair cases
Verge movement

Sold

A fine early London verge with an unusual glazed balance cock.

MOVEMENT : Gilt verge movement, with a beautifully engraved and pierced glazed balance cock. Signed ‘Tho. Lodge, London’ and numbered (605). In excellent condition throughout and running well.

DIAL : Silver champleve dial, with signed central disk (Lodge, London). In fine condition. Nice original early 18th century blued steel beetle and poker hands.

INNER CASE : Maker’s mark IN. In very good condition, though the pendant is a little worn and the bow is a later replacement. The hinge is fine and the bezel snaps shut correctly. The high dome, bull’s eye crystal is also fine.

OUTER CASE : No marks. The hinge, catch and catch button are fine and the case snaps shut correctly. The silver is in good condition with just some very small bruises to the back, a few to the bezel, and some old solder on the inside of the bezel presumably added to strengthen it.

Thomas is listed at St. Dunstan’s, London. He married in 1688.
