MOVEMENT : A good quality rack lever movement, signed ‘Willm. Moon, No 4. Holborn Bars’, and numbered (3436). With engraved balance cock, diamond endstone, 5 spoke wheels, blued screws and blued steel throughout including the balance wheel.
The balance cock foot is engraved ‘PATENT’ and the mainspring bridge is engraved with a different serial number (3074). Four round pillars. All in good condition and running well.
The movement is protected by a gilt brass dustcap.
DIAL : White enamel, in good condition with no repairs, and just some tiny flakes around the edge (larger one at 9) and around the centre hole. The dial is slightly smaller than the dial plate, so is a replacement.
CASE : Silver case with rubbed hallmarks for London, 1824, maker GC?. Some tarnishing and general wear throughout, especially to the milled band and crown, but still in reasonable condition. The hinges are fine and both covers snap shut correctly. The crystal is fine.
