Silver pair cases
Verge movement

Sold

A very interesting silver pair cased watch with “Doctor’s dial” having central minutes, and subsidiary dials for the hours, seconds and date.

MOVEMENT : Gilded verge movement with engraved and pierced balance cock. Signed and numbered (106). All in very good condition and running well. A stop lever, which should protrude from the inner case at 8 is missing, but otherwise the movement, including calendar mechanism, is complete and running well.

DIAL : Wonderful white enamel, with no repairs, but some damage on the edge at 2, 8 and 12, and at the centres of the hours and date dials. There is only one light hairline, running though the centre of the date dial.

INNER CASE : Silver, hallmarks for London, 1803. Maker’s mark JC. A few light scratches on the back, but in good condition throughout although the stem has been re attached.. The high dome bull’s eye crystal has a few light scratches but no chips.. The hinge and catch are good and the bezel closes properly.

OUTER CASE : Silver, with matching hallmarks to the inner. Again in good condition throughout. The hinge, catch and button are fine and the case closes correctly.
