A fine Irish, late 18th century verge, with interesting American watch papers.

MOVEMENT : Signed and numbered (2286) gilt brass verge movement, with four round pillars, engraved and pierced balance cock, blued screws and blued regulator disc. Very good original condition, with the gilding still bright. Complete and running well.

DIAL : 38.5 mm. Excellent white enamel dial, in fine condition with just some surface scratches. Good original 18th century gold beetle and poker hands.

INNER CASE : 42.75 mm. Silver, hallmarked for Birmingham, 1793, maker HH (rubbed). Good condition throughout. There is slight compression around the band. The hinge is fine and the case snaps shut nicely. The high dome crystal has a few scratches but no chips.

OUTER CASE : 52 mm. Matching hallmarks to the inner. Good condition throughout. The hinge and catch are fine and the case snaps shut nicely, though the catch button has worn right down.

The outer case includes 6 watch papers, all from watchmakers of Circleville, Ohio, USA (these include Sage, Dunkin and Burnside).
Two of these are dated at 1800 and 1841.
