MOVEMENT : Signed (Ed. Faulkner, LONDON) and numbered (350). Gilt brass verge movement, with four square pillars, beautifully engraved and pierced balance cock and plate, and silver regulator disc. In complete and good condition. Running well.

DIAL : 43 mm. Wonderful signed silver champleve dial. Excellent condition. Original early 18thc steel beetle and poker hands.

INNER CASE : 49.5 mm. No hallmarks but maker’s mark RM?. In excellent condition throughout. The high dome bull’s eye crystal is fine. The hinge is fine though the bezel snaps shut. The bow is probably a replacement.

OUTER CASE : 57 mm. Matching maker’s mark to the inner. In good condition throughout with just a few light dents on the back. The hinge is fine. The catch is absent (although the case does snap shut).

The back of the case is engraved with two birds and the inscription “DONO DEDIT (gave as a gift) I. RICHARDS TO M. BOOTH 1755”

Edward Faulkner is listed in London after 1692 and in the Clockmakers Company from 1702 until 1744.
