A very large, early 19th century pocket watch with verge movement, in silver pair cases. Made by Adam Gambier, in London, around 1811. Please note that this watch, although complete, is not currently running reliably, so needs some attention. It will run for several minutes, either side up, but stops occasionally.

MOVEMENT : Gilded verge fusee movement, complete, with beautifully engraved and pierced balance cock. Numbered 10391. Signed ‘Adm Gambier, London’.

DIAL : White enamel, 47 mm. in diameter. It is in almost perfect condition with just one small repair on the edge at 12.

INNER CASE : Silver, 53 mm in diameter. Maker’s mark IW and London hallmarks for 1811. Also stamped with the last three numbers of the movement serial no. (391). Excellent overall condition. The hinge and catch are fine and the case snaps shut nicely. Good high dome bull’s eye crystal, also fine.

OUTER CASE : Silver, 59.5 mm in diameter. Matching hallmarks to the inner. Good hinge and catch, and again in excellent condition.
