Richard Parratt
Newport Pagnel, c1745
Silver pair cases
Verge movement

Sold

MOVEMENT : Fully signed (Ric Parratt, NEWPORT PAGNEL). Gilded verge movement with engraved and pierced balance cock and plate. Beautiful and unusual pillars. In fine original condition and running well.

DIAL : 36.25 mm. White enamel. Very good condition, with just a few very light surface scratches and two tiny chips around the catch. No repairs. Nice original 18th century blued steel beetle and poker hands.

INNER CASE : 43.75 mm. Worn London, hallmarks. Very good condition though the pendant has been reattached to the case. High dome crystal in good condition. The hinge is good and the case snaps shut nicely.

OUTER CASE : 51 mm. No decipherable hallmarks. Again in good condition though the catch button is worn and there is a very small spilt on the bezel at the catch. The hinge is fine and the catch snaps shut nicely. The outer is a perfect fit for the inner and I believe is probably the original case.

Richard Purratt (correct spelling), of Newport Pagnell (Bucks) is listed as having been born in 1722, married in 1751 and died in 1792. This is an early watch, probably made a little before 1750.
