MOVEMENT : Engraved and pierced solid silver balance cock with silvered engraved plates. It is signed and numbered (7604) and is running well. Nice blued steel regulator disk.

DIAL : The original signed white enamel dial is about 35.5 mm in diameter. It is in good condition with a few light surface scratches and on light hairline running from the edge at 1 o’clock towards the centre. Good original 18th century hands (not reproductions).

INNER CASE : Hallmarked for London 1773, maker WB. The hinge and catch are fine and the case snaps shut nicely. The high dome bull’s eye crystal is in good condition. The case is in very nice condition.

OUTER CASE : Matching hallmarks to the inner. The hinge and catch are fine, though the button has worn down. The case snaps shut nicely. It is 49.5 mm in diameter.

Loomes lists a James Wood in London after 1734, a member of the Clockmaker’s Company between 1745 and 1770.
