Gilt pair cases
This is a very nice little English gilt/brass pair cased pocket watch, in nice working condition, with a verge escapement fusee movement, made around 1780 by Allam & Clements in London.
MOVEMENT : Excellent brightly gilded movement with round pillars and pierced and engraved balance cock. The movement is signed and numbered (2008). It is running well.
DIAL : The white enamel dial is about 35 mm in diameter. It is in almost perfect condition with some light surface scratches and a tiny chip on the edge between 6 and 7. No repairs.
INNER CASE : The hinge is fine and the case closes nicely. High dome crystal in good condition with some light scratches but no chips. The bow and pendant are fine without the usual repaired join to the case. The case is in good condition with no dents. The gilding is complete on the inside and worn on the sides and pendant.
OUTER CASE : Diameter 45.5mm. Again the hinge is good. The catch and release button are intact although the button is worn down. The gilding is evenly worn down to the brass.
Loomes lists Allam & Clements London between 1764 to 1795.
