Silver repousse pair cases
Verge movement

Sold

MOVEMENT : Signed (Graham, London), with engraved and pieced double footed balance cock. Nice square pillars and ruby endstone. It is running well to within a couple of minutes per hour.

DIAL : The signed silver champleve dial is about 40 mm in diameter. It is in good condition and is complete with no repairs.
Nice old fancy brass hands.

INNER CASE : No hallmarks. The hinge is in good condition and the case snaps shut nicely. The high dome bull’s eye crystal is in good condition. The bow and pendant are fine but with the usual repaired join to the case. The silver is in good condition but with a few small dents on the back and around the repair where the pendant has been reattached.

OUTER CASE : A nice silver case, with very unusual repousse work on the back. The hinge and catch are fine though the release button is dented. The case snaps shut nicely. There are 3 tiny pin holes at the centre where the repousse work has worn through the high points on the back. No dents, scratches or repairs. A beautiful case. It is 53.5mm in diameter.

This watch was probably made on the continent, around 1730. Commonly referred to as “Dutch” watches they were also made in France and Geneva.
