This is an English solid rose gold pair cased pocket watch, in fine working condition, with a gold dial and verge escapement fusee movement, made around 1809 by George Clerke in London.

MOVEMENT : High quality verge movement with very large diamond endstone, nicely blued screws and finely engraved and pierced balance cock. The gilded movement is signed and numbered (4218). The movement is in good condition, with the gilding still bright and is running well.

DIAL : The gold engine turned dial is about 41 mm in diameter. It is in good condition with just a couple of light scratches on the central engine turned area and some spots on the matt area (which could probably be cleaned off).

Nice gold hands.

INNER CASE : Fully hallmarks for 18 carat gold, London, 1809, maker’s mark TCRC. The gold is a wonderful rose colour and in good condition, with just some very light dings on the back. No repairs. The hinge is fine and the case snaps shut tightly.

OUTER CASE : Matching hallmarks to the inner, and again in good condition. The case closes nicely although one of the sleeves on the hinge has broken away from the case. The catch button is of steel rather than gold so must be a replacement.
