This is an English silver pair cased pocket watch, in good condition, with a verge escapement fusee movement, and polychrome dial. It was made by George Booth, in London around 1780.

MOVEMENT : Nicely gilded movement, with square pillars and beautifully engraved and pierced plates and balance cock with “lace” edging (typical of 1760s). Signed and numbered (3044) movement in good working condition with just some damage to the lace edging on the balance cock but not too bad.

DIAL : The nicely painted enamel dial showing a popular subject, “the sailor’s farewell”. The dial is about 37 mm in diameter. It is in good condition with just a few surface scratches.
Fine matching gold hands.

INNER CASE : Full hallmarks for London, 1780, maker TS. The hinge is in good condition, though the case doesn’t snap shut. High dome bull’s eye crystal in good condition. The bow and pendant are fine but with the usual repaired join to the case. The silver is in good condition with no dents, bad scratches or excessive wear.

OUTER CASE : Matching hallmarks to the inner. The hinge and catch are fine and the case closes nicely. The release button is present but a little dented. The silver is in good condition with no repairs and just some light bruises on the back.
