Gold repousse case
Verge quarter repeating movement

Sold

This is a fine quality, quarter repeating verge, in a beautiful gold case.

The movement is unusual and of fine quality, with the strike operating on three gongs rather than the usual two.

MOVEMENT : Matt gilded and engraved verge movement with polished steel balance bridge and repeater barrel, large ruby endstone. and blued steel/silver regulator disk.

The hour/quarter repeating function is activated by pushing down the stem. This may be disabled by a slide on the case band at 2. The repeater strikes on three blued steel gongs, with one chime for the hours and a triple (on each gong) for the quarters. The movement is in very good original condition and both watch and repeating functions are working well.

DIAL : Beautiful elegant white enamel dial. Signed at the base (BREGUET A PARIS). In good condition with no repairs, but with some small chips around the winding aperture and a scratch right on the edge at 3.

Unusual arrow head blued steel & gold hands (the minute hand a little corroded)

CASE : A wonderful gold case, with a starburst repousse back, milled band and inner signed gilt cuvette (engraved Breguet a Paris).

All in very good condition, with just one small bruise to the milled band at 6 and a tiny dent to the inside of the gold back.. The crystal and all of the hinges and catches are fine.

The inside of the gold back is marked “DLG K18 9089” with 3 chevrons (French gold mark).

This watch may have been retailed in Paris by Breguet, but the fine quality repeating movement is probably Swiss.
