A doctor’s style dial with stop lever.

MOVEMENT : Fine quality gilt verge movement, with engraved and pierced balance cock. Blued screws and diamond endstone. Fully signed and numbered (765). Good condition, with just some light scratches around the pillar tops. Running well. The stop lever on the edge of the dial at 4 stops and restarts the movement.

DIAL : Very elegant, light cream enamel ‘doctors’ dial, with overlapping chapters. In good condition with no repairs, a few light scratches, a small mark near 2, and a very light hairline from the edge at 11.

CASE : Silver, hallmarked for London, 1843, maker’s mark RF. Light bruises to the back and a little wear to the engine turning on the band, but in good overall condition. The high dome bull’s eye crystal has a few light scratches but no chips.

Thomas Brownbill of Leeds succeeded his father Henry in 1806 and is recorded until 1866.
