A George III London silver pair cased verge, with wonderful pillars.

MOVEMENT : Gilt verge movement, with finely engraved and pierced balance cock and plate. Signed and numbered (3377). Four wonderfully ornate and very unusual pillars. All in good condition and running well.

DIAL : White enamel dial in quite good condition, but with light hairline across from 1 to 6, a small flake just above the centre, and a few scratches around the edge. Later hands.

INNER CASE : Silver hallmarks for London, 1765, maker’s mark JJ. In good condition, though the stem has been reattached. The hinge is fine and the bezel closes well. The high dome bull’s eye crystal is in good condition. Owner’s initials MB nicely engraved on the back.

OUTER CASE : Silver pair case with matching hallmarks to the inner. The hinge and catch are fine and the case closes correctly. There is wear to the catch button and a few small dents, mostly around the rim of the bezel, but in overall good condition.
