Julien Le Roy
Paris, c1780
Gold case
Verge quarter repeating movement

Sold

A fine rose gold cased Paris pocket watch, with a quarter/hour dumb repeating verge movement. All in particularly good condition.

MOVEMENT : Verge movement, with finely engraved and pierced balance bridge, large silver regulator disk and four round pillars. Signed ‘Jll. Le Roy A Paris’.

The movement incorporates an hour/quarter repeating function which is activated by pushing down the stem. The repeater strikes two posts within the case, with one strike for each hour and two for each quarter.
The movement is in very good original condition and is running well. The repeat function also performs perfectly.

DIAL : Fine white enamel dial in very nice condition with just a few small chips around the winding aperture and the catch, and some light hairlines at the edge at 11.

Nice fancy gold hands.

CASE : The wonderful rose gold engraved case is in excellent condition throughout. The hinge and catch are fine and the bezel snaps shut correctly. The small button on the bezel at 8 is a ‘pulse piece’ allowing the repeat to be silent but vibrating, by pressing the button during the repeat.

The high dome crystal has light surface scratches but no chips or damage.
