Silver pair cases
Verge movement

Sold

MOVEMENT : The gilded verge fusee movement, with engraved and pierced balance cock, is signed and numbered (4896). It is good condition with just the top of one of the pillars broken off (though still pinned to the plate). It is running well.

DIAL : The white enamel painted dial is about 36.5 mm in diameter. It is in very fine condition with just a few very light surface scratches. The painting has been very well done and I believe is original. Original 18th century beetle and poker steel hands, with some damage to the end of the hour hand.

INNER CASE : Diameter 42.5 mm. Silver hallmarks for London, 1778, maker SP, and stamped with the movement number 4896. The case is complete but in average condition, with wear to the pendant (which has been reattached), small dents on the back and around the band, and a crease at the catch. Nice high dome bull’s eye crystal in good condition with just a few scratches. The hinge and catch are fine and the case snaps shut.

OUTER CASE : Diameter 49.5 mm. Heavy silver case, with no hallmarks. So may be later, though a good fit. The hinge is fine though the catch is absent. The silver is in good condition with just a few small bruises in the middle of the back.
