Silver repousse pair cases, 50 mm.
Verge movement

Sold

MOVEMENT : Signed and numbered (3978) gilt brass verge movement, with four square pillars, engraved double foot balance bridge and plate, and silver regulator disc. Complete and original condition. Running, though a little fast (gaining about 3 minutes per hour).

DIAL : White enamel dial, in reasonable condition, with no repairs but two hairlines running across the bottom left, and surface scratches. Fancy gilt hands. This dial is a replacement, probably from about 1800.

INNER CASE : Silver, hallmarked for London, 1778, maker TG. Good condition throughout, though the pendant has been reattached. The high dome crystal is fine and the bezel snaps shut nicely.

OUTER CASE : Silver repousse. Nice condition with just slight wear to high points of the repousse work, resulting in a couple of pin holes. The hinge and catch are fine and the case snaps shut nicely. There is an old repair to the rim of the bezel at the catch.
