MOVEMENT : Gilt verge movement, with beautifully engraved ‘portrait’ balance cock. Blued screws and regulator disk. Signed (R. Williams, LIVERPOOL), numbered (3556). Good condition, with the gilding still bright, and running well.

DIAL : 46.2 mm. White enamel dial, in good condition with no repairs but some scratches and small chips right on the edge (mainly at 11).

INNER CASE : 49.75 mm, silver, hallmarked for Birmingham, 1814, maker’s mark SP. The case snaps shut nicely and the silver is in very good condition. The high dome bull’s eye crystal is fine.

OUTER CASE : 56 mm, silver, matching hallmarks to the inner. The hinge, catch and catch button are fine and the case closes nicely. A few light scratches and bruises on the back but in generally nice condition. The back is also nicely engraved with a monogram “WG”?.

An R. Williams is listed in Liverpool in 1815.
