Sold

MOVEMENT : Signed (Jn. Seymour, London) and numbered (12715) gilt brass verge movement, with four square pillars, engraved double foot balance cock and plate with ‘lace’ edging and silver regulator disc. In complete condition and running (though a little fast, gaining about 10 minutes per hour).

DIAL : 39 mm. Enamel dial, in reasonable condition, with a few scratches and repairs on the edge at 1 and 6. This dial is a replacement, but of about the correct period. Later brass hands.

INNER CASE : 45 mm. Silver, hallmarked for London, 1778 (rubbed), maker IH. Good condition except for the hinge which has damage to the sleeves, though the bezel snaps shut nicely. The high dome crystal is fine.

OUTER CASE : 52.25 mm. Very good quality silver repousse, in fine condition with no holes or repairs. Excellent definition to the repousse work with very little wear to high points. The hinge and catch are fine and the case snaps shut nicely.

A John Seymour (II) is listed in London after 1766.
