Silver pair cases
Verge movement

Sold

MOVEMENT : Signed gilt brass verge movement, with four square pillars, very well engraved and pierced balance cock and plate, and silver regulator disc. Large ruby coloured endstone. In complete and very good condition with nice bright gilding. Running well.

DIAL : 39 mm. Later enamel dial, in good condition, with a light hairline from the centre towards 6, and another on the edge at 1. The area around the catch at 6 has been ground down to allow the catch to be operated.

INNER CASE : 43.5 mm. Silver with no marks. Good condition through the pendant has been reatached. The high dome crystal is fine and the bezel snaps shut.

OUTER CASE : 49.75 mm. Fine silver repousse case in very nice condition with just one tiny hole in the bezel but not on the back. Just usual wear to high points of the repousse work but beautiful engravings of animals and scrolls around the edge and bezel. The hinge and catch are fine and the case snaps shut nicely.

This watch is probably French (though could be Swiss) and was made around 1750 in the English style.
