A very fine gold and enamel pair cased cylinder watch, by a good London maker. Excellent condition.

MOVEMENT : Excellent quality gilded cylinder movement, fully signed and numbered (19272). Diamond endstone to the balance cock and blued screws. Excellent, original condition and running well.

DIAL : White enamel. Very fine condition with just a few light surface scratches. Nice original 18th century gold, beetle and poker hands.

INNER CASE : Hallmarks for 22ct gold, London, 1786, maker VW. Also stamped with the movement number (19272). Excellent condition with just a few light dents around the band. Good high dome crystal with no scratches or other damage. The case snaps shut nicely.

OUTER CASE : Gold hallmarks matching the inner. Enamel to both bezel and back.

The gold is in good condition throughout. The hinge and catch are again fine and the case snaps shut. The catch button appears to be a replacement (silver) and there is a tiny gold stud missing from the bezel at the catch (leaving a small whole).

The blue and white enamel bands on the bezel and back are in excellent condition. The dark blue guilloche enamel on the back is complete with no chips and just some light scratches.

Francis Perigal (III) was at Royal Exchange, London from about 1778 and died in 1843.
