Verge quarter repeating movement

Sold

MOVEMENT : Gilded verge movement with engraved and pierced balance cock. Signed (Moilliet, Geneva) and numbered (5027).
The hour/quarter repeating function is activated by pushing down the stem. The repeater strikes two gongs, with one chime for the hours and two for the quarters. The movement is in good original condition and both watch and repeating functions are working well.

DIAL : 44.25mm. White enamel and engine turned gold centre and rims. There are a few very light scratches but in wonderful condition overall. Blued steel hands.

CASE : 52.75 mm. Silver. It is stamped with the movement number (5027) and Swiss silver marks. In good condition with just some scratches around the catches on the covers and 2 small dents on the band.

There are several makers named Moilliet listed in Geneva during the second half of the 18th century. This watch would have been made towards the end of the century.
