An early Dutch watch, with a beautiful movement and fine silver repousse case.

MOVEMENT : Nicely gilded movement with wonderfully ornate pillars, and engraved and pierced silver balance cock. The movement is signed “T. Loor Amsterdam’. It is in fine original condition and is running well.

DIAL : 39.35 mm. Later , polychrome enamel dial, probably added during the second half of the 18th century. The dial plate looks original. The dial has a few light scratches and some tiny chips around the catch at 6, but no repairs.

SILVER INNER CASE : 48 mm. Silver, no hallmarks but maker’s mark IR under a crown. In very good condition. The high dome crystal is also perfect. The hinge is fine and the case snaps shut nicely.

SILVER SECOND CASE : Diameter 55.75 mm. With no marks. There is some wear to the repousse high points, but no holes. The steel catch and button are absent.

BRASS THIRD CASE : Diameter 62.65 mm. No marks. This case would originally have had a shell or leather covering, as evident from the pin holes around the rims.
Other than the missing covering, the case is in very good condition, with the hinge, catch and catch button all fine.

The 3 cases all fit together perfectly and I believe are original to the movement and to each other.

Thomas Loor is listed in Amsterdam during the first half of the 18th century.
