Gold repousse pair cases

MOVEMENT : Beautiful gilt verge movement, with engraved and pierced balance cock and plate. Signed “Jos’h Barber, London” and numbered (49). Fine original condition and running well.

DIAL : 37.8 mm. Nice white enamel dial, in very good condition with just some rubbing/narrow chips around the edge at 11, 3 and 5. Nice original 18th century gold beetle and poker hands.

INNER CASE : 43.5 mm. 22 carat gold. Hallmarked for London, 1748, maker HT. The hinge is fine and the case closes nicely. Good high dome bull’s eye crystal with no damage. Excellent condition throughout.

OUTER CASE : 50 mm. 22 carat gold. No hallmarks, which is common for a repousse case of this date. The hinge and catch are fine. Wear to the high points, with some small pin holes but no repairs.
The total gold weight of the cases (including crystal) is 60 gms.

CHATELAINE : 120 mm. The hook section is gilt brass but the 3 panels below are high carat gold (probably 22ct). Makers mark EB?. Excellent condition with just a little wear to the gilding of the brass hook. This chatelaine is from the mid 18th century.
The total weight is 55gms, with the gold sections estimated at 25 to 30 gms.
