Silver pair cases
Verge movement

Sold

A very large and substantial silver pair cased watch, with a verge movement and painted “name” dial.

MOVEMENT : Gilded verge fusee movement, with engraved and pierced balance cock. Signed and numbered (75997). It is in good condition and is running well.

DIAL : White enamel, 47 mm in diameter, with the name “MARK STEWARDS’ in place of numbers and a farming scene in the centre. It is in good condition with no repairs but a hairline on the edge between W and A.

INNER CASE : Silver, 52.4 mm in diameter. Hallmarked for London, 1847. Maker’s mark HWG and movement number (75997). Very fine condition and no repairs. Good high dome bull’s eye crystal with no damage. The hinge and catch are fine and the case closes properly.

OUTER CASE : Silver, 60 mm in diameter. Matching hallmarks to the inner. Hinge and catch fine and the case closes nicely. Like the inner case, in very fine condition, but the catch button is absent (though the catch is complete and the case closes correctly).
