MOVEMENT : Good quality gilded verge fusee movement, with diamond endstone, and particularly finely engraved and pierced balance cock. Signed and numbered “1328”. Good original condition and running well..

DIAL : White enamel, 42.25 mm. in diameter. It is in fine condition with just some surface scratches and a little thinning at the edge between 6 and 8. These are very minor imperfections on a fine dial. Gold coloured hands.

INNER CASE : Silver, 46.25 mm in diameter. Hallmarked for Dublin, 1808. Good overall condition, The hinge is fine and the case snaps shut nicely. Good high dome bull’s eye crystal with some surface scratches but no other damage. Wear to the bow which could be a replacement.

OUTER CASE : Silver, 53.75 mm in diameter. Matching hallmarks to the inner, but also with the maker’s mark (OAN) for Arthur O’Neil. Good hinge and catch, though the catch button has worn down.

Loomes lists Archibald Buchanan in Dublin between 1781 and 1822.
