Gold repousse pair cases
Verge movement

Sold

Very good quality English verge, in a wonderful 22ct repousse gold pair case, the inner beautifully engraved and as nice as I have seen.

MOVEMENT : High quality verge movement if excellent original condition. Large diamond endstone and signed/numbered dust cover. The movement is signed, numbered (1134) and is running very well.

DIAL : The white enamel dial is about 35.5 mm in diameter. It is in nice condition, with no repairs, but some surface scratches and one hairline across the edge at 8 o’clock (with a small chip right on the edge). Good original steel beetle and poker hands (not reproductions)..

INNER CASE : 22ct gold. Diameter 42 mm. Hallmarked for London, 1746, maker EB (possibly Edward Bradshaw). This beautifully engraved case has a good weight and is in excellent condition. The hinge and catch are fine and the case closes nicely. The bow is possibly a later replacement. The high dome bull’s eye crystal is fine.

OUTER CASE : 22ct gold. Diameter 49.75 mm. No marks but tested as high carat gold. Good condition with no holes but some wear to the high points on the back, which have been filled from the inside (see photo). The hinge and catch button are fine though the steel catch itself has broken off at the end so the case does not snap shut.
