This is a silver pair cased pocket watch, with verge movement and enamel/gilt “Keep me clean… ” dial. It was made by David Griffith in Denbigh around 1828.

MOVEMENT : The gilded verge fusee movement is signed and numbered (564). It is in good condition and is running well.

DIAL : The beautiful white enamel and gilt brass dial is about 46.75mm in diameter. The enamel is perfect and there is jut a little wear to the gilding on the outer brass rim.
This rim is engraved with “KEEP ME CLEAN AND USE ME WELL – AND I TO YOU THE TRUTH WILL TELL”.

INNER CASE : Diameter 50.75mm. Hallmarked for Birmingham, 1828 (rubbed), maker JH. The case is in generally good condition with no dents or repairs but the pendant has worn at the bow (though the pendant is original without repair) and the bezel has worn at the edge between 12 and 2 o’clock (though the crystal is held firmly ok). The high dome bull’s eye crystal is fine.

OUTER CASE : Diameter 55.75mm. Matching hallmarks to the inner. The hinge and catch are fine although the catch button is missing. Good overall condition with no dents although the bezel is worn where the bow has rested against it.
