Silver pair cases
Verge movement

Sold

This is a very old English silver pair cased pocket watch, with a verge escapement fusee movement, made around 1769, by Richard Mintern in London. It is not running and is sold for repair.

The fusee chain is absent. The balance and balance staff are complete though the balance does not swing. The fusee is worn or has lost its click (doesn’t engage when winding). Otherwise the movement is complete though is dirty.

The dial has some surface scratches but no hairlines or repairs.

Both cases are hallmarked for London 1769, maker WB. They are in very good condition. The winding square from the movement doesn’t line up perfectly with the hole in the inner case so I don’t think the case is original (though of a similar date).
