Sold

This is a good English silver repousse pair cased pocket watch, with a verge escapement fusee movement, made in Houghton Green near Warrington in 1782 by Nathanial Sidebottom.

MOVEMENT : Signed (Nat. Sidebottom, HOUGHTON GREEN) and unusually it is dated (1782). Nicely engraved, pierced and gilded balance cock. It is running well.

DIAL : The white enamel dial is about 35.5 mm in diameter. It is in very good condition with just a few light surface scratches and two hairlines at the edge near 2 o’clock.

INNER CASE : Full hallmarks for London, 1781/82, with the maker’s mark IM. The hinge is in good condition and the case snaps shut nicely. The high dome bull’s eye crystal is in good condition. The bow and pendant are fine and the silver is in good condition with no dents or significant scratches..

OUTER CASE : A good silver repousse case, with the catch and release button intact. The hinge has one sleeve worn but works fine. There is some wear to the high points on the back and just one tiny pin hole . The case is 50.5mm in diameter.
